Optical Appliances

Asaca’s embedded server systems enhance the capability of Asaca AM 750 and 1450 DVD libraries, by enabling a library to be a stand-alone server and storage platform. Using an embedded server system eliminates that need for an external host computer. Depending on the configuration of the embedded server, either a Windows or Solaris operating system can be used allowing the server to support a broad range of applications. The embedded server assembly consists of 6 different modules. Depending on the modules used to form the embedded server assembly, there are 4 possible embedded server assembly configurations:
  • Pentium embedded server assembly
  • Pentium extended PCI embedded server assembly
  • Sun Sparc embedded server assembly
  • Sun Sparc extended PCI embedded server assembly

Extended PCI embedded server assemblies allow for use of long PCI cards on the ATX motherboard. A Pentium embedded server assembly uses a Pentium processor and the Windows operating system the Sun Sparc embedded server uses a Sun Sparc processor and the Solaris operating system. All the other modules are the same for the above assemblies.
